A real “dancing
queen”- Barbara is the U.S. National Pro-Am Ballroom Dance
Champion and competes all over the country! She is a well-known
international pin-up, fashion model and can be seen as a sexy
Fembot in “Austin Powers”.
Less is sometimes
more. But where film and TV actress, Playboy centerfold, and
ballroom dance champion Barbara Moore is concerned, Moore is
definitely more. It takes most athletes years to reach the top
of their sport, but for this sultry Austin Powers costar, she
has ruled the precision world of Dancesport for her entire 5
years as a ballroom dancer, and recently procured yet another
trophy for her collection when she took her second time United
States Pro-Am Open/standard ballroom championship title. “I
always knew I had the talent, so it goes to show that if you set
a goal and put your mind to something, you can achieve it.”
“This is the story that I would like to tell people.”
And what a story
it is. With trophies, medals and ribbons festooning her Beverly
Hills home, Moore is enthusiastic and a remarkable result of an
inspiring theory proved.
So how did the
Baywatch guest star babe and star of such movies as Beach House
and Malibu Weekend become queen of the ballroom dancers? It
really is true that if you tell a kid she can’t have something,
then she wants is even more. Because dancing was verboten in the
strict Christian household where Moore was growing up, her
passion for this performing art was like fire under her feet.
With an equally hot acting career born of that one-in-a-million
junction of right place/right time when she was “discovered” as
a 19 -year-old flight attendant, she was stepping in front of
the camera, rather than on the dance floor.
When she landed in
Nashville, she was snapped up for appearances in music videos
for Reba McEntire, Waylon Jennings, and Hank Williams Jr. She
then became a video goddess in Areosmith and Phil Collins
videos, which led to many guest star turns, including
Married....With Children and Silk Stalking.
“To be really good
at something, you have to focus on it 100 percent,” says Moore,
who has intently studied her craft with extensive formal
training.
Applying the focus
principle to dancesport, her feet and her heart have carried her
from the dream to reality of its intricate movement, where she
meets its physical and emotional demands with hours of daily
practice, working with world champion dancer Igor Suvorov, with
whom she partners in competitions. Moore trains like an athlete
and looks like one would expect as seen from her recent layouts
in Stuff magazine, Ironman, and the cover of Bizarre commanding
the camera like she dominates the dance floor. Though remaining
the undefeated U.S. champion is a full time job, Moore finds
time to shoot continuously for her premiere Internet destination.
As a spokes person
for “Playboy”, Barbara has traveled around the globe, exposing
herself to different people and cultures, making new friends,
absorbing new experiences. By the time she settled down in Los
Angeles, her acting career was gaining impressive momentum.
“Married ...With Children”, “Silk Stalkings”, “Baywatch Nights”,
“Blossom”, “Sex in the City”, “Nightstand”, “Ace Ventura” ,
“Austin Powers”, “The Last Action Hero”, are among her onscreen
credits, not including the plethora of hefty assignments she
garnered across the broad range of print media (the cover of
“Entertainment Weekly”, “Muscle and Fitness”, “Insider”,
“Playboy”, “Bizzare”, and most recently “People” Australia, and
many appearances on television. Barbara is the feature model in
the 2004 bonus calender seen in the December issue of Stuff
magazine. Not only is Barbara one of the most popular swimwear
and pinup models in the world, she also holds the title of The
U.S. National Pro-Am Standard Ballroom Champion two years
undefeated. |
